Future Weird Competition Winners
The results of the competition and the October publishing schedule.
The first ever Futurist Letters writing competition, Future Weird, has now concluded. We received many strong entries from old and new friends, and it took a long time to reduce the finalists down to three winning short horror stories. Thank you to everyone who submitted for sharing your work with us and giving us the chance to publish your fiction.
The winners are:
Grand Prize: “Mommy Is Not Mommy” by Slater Ross
Runner Up: “Blurryface” by Dr. Agonson
Runner Up: “Brother” by Dr. Agonson
We received more entries than expected, and it took a lot of deliberation between myself and fellow judge Arbogast to make our selections. We look forward to sharing these frightening works with you across the month of October as we celebrate the Halloween season.
This will be a straight month of horror fiction hits from some of our favorite authors, all marked with the Future Weird banner. Reader discretion is advised.
We are also pleased to announce that we have begun offering banner ad space to support our publication efforts. We estimate 6,000 monthly impressions from readers of taste and vitality. If you are interested in having us design and run your ads, please email:

We will return to our usual mix of essays and fiction in November. Submissions for both are still open at this time. Visit the page below for our general submission guidelines:
